Today in HUMANITIES we:
  • Did Writer's Workshop - for 1.5 hours. Remember you need to have 6 completed works and your poetry. You only have 2 more hours to do this. Use your time wisely!
  • DUE ON TUESDAY: Historical Fiction Story.

Today in MATH we:

  • Reviewed our homework: What is a proportion?
  • Took some notes on Proportions.
  • Did a proportion problem solving worksheet: Due MONDAY.

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Did some Reading & Check & Reflects.
  • Due on MONDAY: READ sia7 p35-43, DO c&r #1-5 sia7 p33, #1-4 p38, #1-5 p43
  • QUIZ Tuesday on Sections 1 & 2.

ALL THE REST:

  • It is a nice day & we can work outside, but to earn the privallege of working outside we MUST get work done! Show us you can!

Today in MATH we:
  • Reviewed our homework from yesterday and Handed it in!
  • Talked about PROPORTIONS - worksheet due FRIDAY.

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Went outside and made some observations about our school yard.
  • Give it a try activity - sia7 p 20
  • Hey, what kind of drink container do you think is best? WHY?
  • One person from each group handed in your observations.

  • Talked about Historical Fiction
  • Reviewed Narrative Leads & other writing techniques
  • Brainstormed for our own stories of historical fiction - Do you have a setting? Topic? What are the historical events I want to cover? Are my historcial events accurate? Characters?
  • We need to write an introduction to our story & be ready to share it!
Today in MATH we:
  • Had Drill #51
  • Reviewed & handed in our homework from yesterday.
  • Talked about PROPORTIONS.....what is a proportion?
  • Homework: Read & Understand mp7 p 178, DO mp7 p 179 #1-39 odd
  • Lots of you are done already....good job! Make sure you UNDERSTAND it!
  • Don't forget your problem of the week #15 is due on WEDNESDAY (tomorrow)

  • Worked on Equivalent & Comparing Ratios
  • Homework: mp7 p 176 Read & Understand!! mp7 p 177 do #2-46 EVEN
Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Worked on Figures of Speech & Poetry - got another handout
  • Did you record the handouts in your table of contents for Writer's Workshop?

Today in MATH we:

  • Handed in our EQUIVALENT RATIOS worksheet
  • Did the Inquire activity - mp7 p174 - this was completed in class, answers were given in complete sentences - it was handed into the in box before the end of class
  • To think about this weekend EQUIVALENT RATIOS & EQUIVALENT FRACTIONS - why do we use them?? Where do we see or use them every day?
  • Don't forget to do your problem of the week #15 - it is due on Wednesday.

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Did sia7 p15 C&R #1-6
  • Vocabulary sia7 section 1.1 & 1.2 (p8-19) focus on the words in BOLD.

Today we had a very important assembly. Rev. Lang talked to our school about how violence has touched his family. The overall message is treat others as you would like to be treated and to be forgiving. Forgiveness is a very important value to practice.

PLEASE lets all REMEMBER to be KIND to those around us & to show caring & concern for everyone.

  • Picked our 10 Spelling words
  • Reminder: Current Events & Working With Words starts again TOMORROW....when are you scheduled to go?
  • We reflected on the question: If you could meet ANY person from Canadian history, DEAD or ALIVE, who would it be and why? What intrigues you about them? What would you ask them if you met them?
  • Worked on the following questions: Think it Through Q # 1 a, b, c on page 195,
    What role did the North West Mounted Police play in the development of Western Canada? How did building the Canadian Pacific Railway affect the growth of Canada? How did the Chinese railway workers contribute to Canada? How was what they did an act of citizenship? How were they treated? Why do you think they were treated this way? What role did agriculture play in the growth of Western Canada? What was the National Policy? How did the National Policy strengthen the Canadian economy?

Today in MATH we:

  • Started work on ratios & rates.
  • Homework: Get Set worksheet due TUESDAY.
  • What is the difference between GCF & LCM?
  • Math Drills Start again Tomorrow!
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Talked about INTERACTIONS & ECOSYSTEMS
  • Started work on our title pages.....surveyed the chapter, made a plan.
  • Title page due: WEDNESDAY
