Today in Humanities we:
  • Had a discussion about the "Quebecois Nation"
  • Wrote our Spelling #10 test
  • Wrote our Chapter 1-4 Exam in Canadian History
  • Had some time to work on Writer's Workshop after the exam
  • Board game groups who were finished had a consultation with Ms. Dharamsi to review and assess the work
  • Homework: Think about the following quote, "War involves the use of organized force on a large scale to attain a goal." Ask yourself the following questions: Name some wars that you know about. Who were the opposing sides? What was the goal of the war? What was the outcome? What can lead a country to war?

Today in Math we:

  • Did our Math Drill #21
  • Practiced using Integers
  • Homework: MP7 Page 63 #1-60

Today in Science we:

  • Had a pop quiz on Heat and Temperature
  • Worked on our cartoon (SIA page 197 Q#2)

  • Homework: mp7 page 61 #18-39 READ mp7 page 62 DUE: Thursday

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Went over our vocabulary - make a CHART (term, definition, picture) from the words we listed on the board.
  • Talked about MATTER and the PARTICLE MODEL used to explain it.
  • What are the differences between solids, liquids & gases? Think of your list.
  • What does HEAT do to these states?
  • Short story DUE: Friday (you have had a whole week to work on it!)

  • Homework: sia7 page 197 #2 BE CREATIVE!

REMINDERS:

  • If you are finished your homework, take a few minutes to review.....who knows when you might get a "pop quiz"!

  • Board games: You have until FRIDAY to complete them for marks. Get it together!
  • Did a literacy lesson. What do you know about the Bermuda triangle?
  • Reviewed our multiple choice test.
  • Reviewed strategies for writing multiple choice tests. How can you do better next time?
  • Review Chapters 1-4 v&v - test on THURSDAY.
Today in MATH we:
  • Did drill #19. How are you doing on them? What could you do to improve?
  • Handed in our quiz corrections & our fractions review.
  • Talked about INTEGERS. Wrote a definition for them. What are they?
  • Did question #1, mp7 page 60 using an atlas.
  • Homework: mp7 page 60 #3, page 61 #1-17. Due Tuesday.
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Handed in our test corrections.
  • Made a list of solids, liquids, & gases. What is the difference between them?
  • Had a classmate (peer) edit our short stories. Published copy due FRIDAY.
  • Homework: sia7 pages 190-194 VOCABULARY. FIND words you do not understand & write a definition for them.

Today in HUMANITIES we:

  • Played our board games.
  • If you did not have a completed game, then you needed to do TSQ4R for ALL of Chapter 5 (v&v)
  • You had an EXTRA WEEK to complete these games. No excuses. It was YOUR responsiblity to come in at lunch and after school if you needed to get together.
  • Homework: For those who finished their board games, survey chapter 5. For those who did not finish their board games, finish TSQ4R or Power Notes for chapter 5.
Today in MATH we:

  • Got our quizzes back - corrections due on Tuesday done in Black or Blue ink.
  • Reviewed Fractions. What have we learned about them?
  • Your review is due tomorrow - write yourself examples for ALL of the topics that were listed on the board. Include pictures and diagrams, use your fraction sets.
  • What are integers?
Today in SCIENCE we:

  • We got our Structures & Forces Unit Finals Back. Corrections Due Tuesday in Black or Blue ink.
  • Multiple Choice corrections - write WHY your answer was incorrect. Write the correct selection.
  • Talked about strategies to use when writing a multiple choice test.
  • Give it a try activity on page 182 - short story. First Draft due Tuesday.

  • Those of you who did NOT finish your board games have a note in your agenda or humanities binder for them to sign:

It is LITERACY week in our classroom!!!

  • Today we started our literacy week.
  • There are 11 stations, today we did one.
  • You are required to complete all of the activities at each station.
  • Be prepared to hand in your booklet at the end of the week.
  • Work on your BOARD game for HUMANITITES.
  • Hand in your math problem of the week and your science homework from the weekend.

HOMEWORK: Read for 30 minutes each night. You must get your agenda signed to show that you have done this.

Today in HUMANITIES we:
  • Did our weekly spelling test
  • Worked on our friendly letters to the Canadian Soldiers & handed in a good copy.
  • Homework: Think it through v&v p85 #1, 2, READ pages 86-92, Cloze activity, READ pages 93-96, Think it through p93 questions #1, 2a.
  • You had 30 minutes in class to work on this, you should have about 30 minutes worth of homework left to do during the LONG weekend.
Today in MATH we:
  • Did Math Drill #12 - it was challenging.....is there anything you don't quite understand...come for help if there is.
  • Review your fractions for homework, finish any questions and homework you didn't get to, write a list of questions or concerns you might have about fractions. Take 5 minutes a day to review math.
Today in SCIENCE we:
  • Finished our review posters and presented them for marks. You should be an expert on your section, now you have three more sections to become comfortable with. Did you listen to what your classmates were telling you as they presented?
  • Some groups didn't get a chance to do this. Think about WHY and how YOU contributed to this.
  • Unit final is Monday....REVIEW REVIEW REVIEW....we have talked about and looked at the concepts in many different ways.....use them, learn them, understand them!
REMINDERS:
  • Science unit final is MONDAY.....you had extra time to work on it....there are no excuses for doing poorly.

Today in SCIENCE we:

  • Made a KWL Chart for Structures and Forces - Each group was assigned a section to work on and presentations will be made tomorrow
  • Used Page 339 to help us study
  • This exercise is to HELP you do the BEST you can on your unit final.
