Today we took a READING COMPREHENSION test. Based on the results, we discussed strategies for improving our reading skills, and learning how to READ FOR UNDERSTANDING. Some suggestions include:

  • Read for at least 20 minutes every night (This should be something other than school work)
  • Read a variety of text, including magazines, newspapers, novels, poems, brochures, cartoons, graphic novels and much more
  • Keep a dictionary and a thesaurus with you at all times and make an effort to look up new words
